About the Journal

The Journal of Urban Sociology (JUS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal in the field of sociology, published biannually in April and October by the Sociology Laboratory, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya (UWKS), Indonesia. JUS provides an academic platform for disseminating original ideas and research findings in sociology, with a particular emphasis on social life in urban and urbanizing societies. The journal conceptualizes “urban” not merely as a geographical space but as a sociological context that reflects modernity, social differentiation, power relations, and structural transformation.

JUS publishes original research, theoretical and methodological articles, policy studies, and book reviews addressing social inequality, politics and governance, culture, religion, identity, power relations, gender, and environmental issues in urban and community settings. All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers, and all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

JUS is registered with p-ISSN 2620-5211 and e-ISSN 2656-3339, and every article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) under the prefix 10.30742.
